The Known Universe by AMNH
The Known Universe takes viewers from the Himalayas through our atmosphere and the inky black of space to the afterglow of the Big Bang. Every star, planet, and quasar seen in the film is possible because of the world’s most complete four-dimensional map of the universe, the Digital Universe Atlas that is maintained and updated by astrophysicists at the American Museum of Natural History. The new film, created by the Museum, is part of an exhibition, Visions of the Cosmos: From the Milky Ocean to an Evolving Universe, at the Rubin Museum of Art in Manhattan through May 2010. In total, the work includes nearly a million galaxies and 120,000 quasars. The trip, which begins in the Himalayas and ends at the very limit of what we see with the most powerful tools we have, the echoes of the Big Bang, to 13,700 million light years away, and serves to give us all account, in a direct and visual, as negligibly small is our world, even our galaxy, when compared to all that is "out there" ...
El universo conocido lleva a los televidentes desde el Himalaya a través de nuestra atmósfera y el negro absoluto del espacio para el resplandor del Big Bang. Cada estrella, planeta, y Quasar visto en la película es posible porque del mapa más completo del mundo de cuatro dimensiones del universo, el Atlas Digital Universe es mantenido y actualizado por el que los astrofísicos del Museo Americano de Historia Natural.
